Rubbish Disposal

All rubbish must be placed inside the bin store. Anywhere else except by prior arrangement with the council, is considered FLYTIPPING

If you do not know the door code to enter the bin store please contact us for guidance. All rubbish must be placed inside the wheelie bins. This keeps the area safe, clean, hygienic and vermin free. Be considerate to your fellow residents.

Collection Days

Our general waste bins are collected every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Due to insufficient collection by Biffa we have had no alternative but to suspend all recycling with immediate effect since this is also preventing general waste collection, and leading to unsanitary conditions. We are working on a new solution with the council. In the meantime residents may take all recycling products to public collection points. The nearest recycling point is at Chester Close, LE1 2GX. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Flytipping

Any rubbish not placed inside the bin store except by prior arrangement with the council is considered FLYTIPPING and is liable for full cost recovery and criminal prosecution. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy, and a 100% detection rate.

We have sadly had a considerable issue with flytipping in the past. This is distressing as all residents have to pay for such offending items to be removed at commercial rates and with associated labour costs.

To this end the CCTV was upgraded with multiple new High-Definition cameras and remote live monitoring. All cases without exception are now investigated. Since the cameras have been installed we have successfully traced all the first 6 offenders. Four were not aware of the regulations and graciously removed. The fifth after evasion had the high-profile landlord threatened with action and the item did subsequently disappear. The sixth we obtained the vehicle registrations of the two individuals concerned with very clear footage and fly-tipping intent as they dumped it onto an adjacent property. This is currently with the council for resolution and prosecution, which we and the adjacent property are whole-heartedly supporting. The offenders will be paying for its removal and could face a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment.

Recycling

To avoid this it is very simple and free of charge for all residents to have items disposed of by the Council.

Click here to book an online collection and set a convenient date. It really is that easy. Alternatively you can phone the Council on 0116 454 1002 to discuss.

All arranged items must be placed in the car park entrance drive neatly and to the side and labelled up for collection no earlier than the evening before the allotted date, and as per Council Instructions.

For help or to report sightings of fly-tipping please simply email us at mail@stgeorgesmill.com

We really will do everything to help and may be able to offer some cooperative services or even lifting help. We also respect all requests for anonymity. Please make this a safe and tidy environment for us all.
